An irresistible and rare little lithographed tin box, produced for laxative lozenges from the famous spa town of Châtel-Guyon. Against a slightly patinated beige background, the period typography and the whimsical illustration of a character wearing a red cap make it a fine example of humorous and eye-catching packaging from the early 20th century. The back details the properties of the phenolphthalein lozenges and their use according to the dosage: laxative or purgative. A delightful relic of pharmaceutical advertising from bygone eras.
