Old bistro advertising plaque with a particularly amusing and unexpected slogan: "Boss!! A Caress!!". The humorous effect relies on the deliberately ambiguous double meaning of the word caress, immediately followed by the clarification "the best anise-flavored aperitif", transforming the request into an advertisement for an anise-flavored drink. This type of mischievous catchphrase was very common in bistro advertising in the first half of the 20th century, intended to capture the attention of customers behind the counter. The graphic composition is very effective with black typography underlined with an orange border on a cream background. The plaque bears the inscription "Établissements R. Plas - Paris - Uzerche", a company that distributed various advertising materials for beverages and grocery products. The reverse side retains an old handwritten inscription that adds extra charm to this counter object.
