This large 1917 ledger preserves the handwritten accounts of a butcher shop during the First World War. On its blue and red ruled pages, ink handwriting details customers' purchases: cuts of beef and veal, chops, kidneys, bacon, or meat for pot-au-feu, accompanied by quantities, prices, and payment notes. The entries follow one another in a narrow and elongated format, under a dark cloth cover with the gilded title "Agenda 1917". Bearing the name of the stationery and bookshop "Au Grand Livre", E. Villoutreix in Saint-Junien, this old commercial book will appeal to collectors of manuscripts, food trades, and everyday history.
