Former advertising jar in enameled earthenware for Rémond "Wholesale Jams" in Paris, bearing the signature "Em. Privé Successeur". Its brown decoration combines large ornate letters, the mention "Maison fondée en 1835" (House founded in 1835) and a composition of medals underlined by the banner "Paris - Médaille d’Or - 1889" (Paris - Gold Medal - 1889). On the side, the oval mark with the monogram "RD" advertises "guaranteed fruit & sugar" superfine jams. Its shouldered silhouette and molded neck distinguish it from usual cylindrical jars. The sustained beige patina and the crazing of the enamel give a lot of character to this old grocery packaging.
