A very beautiful animated advertising piece, created for the Parisian department store Au Bon Marché. This mechanical chromolithograph depicts elegantly dressed children discovering different silhouettes appearing behind two colored windows. Thanks to a rotating disc on the back, the characters parade and simultaneously change color according to red and green filters. This patented process, particularly popular during the Belle Époque, combined advertising, optical illusion, and entertainment in an object designed to attract customers' attention.
