A turned wooden countertop spinning top, used in cafes and pubs to animate simple games of chance, often involving bets (drinks, coins, or food). Each side bears an instruction – "Take it all," "Put 1 on," etc. – determining the outcome of the spin once the top is launched. This type of object, very common in the early 20th century, was an integral part of bistro culture, a blend of conviviality and small bets. The central handle allows for rapid spinning on the table, and the visible wear testifies to actual use in a real setting. (Sold individually)
