An antique Ottoman box in solid bronze, likely a cartridge box or military powder box known as a palaska , dating from the 19th century. Entirely decorated with geometric and circular chased motifs typical of Ottoman art, it features six articulated legs secured by rivets, giving the object an intriguing zoomorphic appearance. Two loops on each side allow it to be worn over the shoulder. This type of object, combining military functionality and artisanal craftsmanship, was carried by soldiers of the Ottoman Empire in the Balkans, Anatolia, and North Africa. The patina and signs of wear enhance the authenticity of this rare piece.
