A superb floral plate from the Second Volume of the Album de la Décoration , published by A. Calavas in Paris and printed by R. Engelmann . Designed by Henry Lambert , it comprises two elegant vertical panels with symmetrical compositions, one devoted to azaleas, the other to irises. Each motif is set within a frame adorned with burgundy scrolls typical of Art Nouveau.
The pastel tones – pink, sea green, ochre and saffron – perfectly reflect the decorative aesthetic of the Belle Époque, between stylized naturalism and graphic refinement.
