Pharmacy box "Cocaine Hydrochloride Lozenges"

An old pharmaceutical specialty box from the Pharmacie Centrale de France, managed by Charles Buchet & Cie, 21 rue des Nonnains-d’Hyères in Paris. Its meticulously crafted blue and red decoration highlights a formula that is particularly striking today: lozenges with menthol, sodium borate, and cocaine hydrochloride. The reverse side specifies the composition per lozenge, with 0.001 of cocaine hydrochloride, as well as the original packaging of 48 lozenges; a major piece for a collection dedicated to old medicines, the history of pharmacy, and forbidden remedies.
