Elegant Sergent-Major pen nib box with particularly refined allegorical decoration, depicting a draped female figure advancing towards a rising sun. The lid is adorned with a frieze of medals and universal awards, with the mention "Grand Prix 1900", typical of French productions from the very end of the 19th century and the beginning of the Belle Époque. The whole presents a very Art Nouveau aesthetic in the treatment of plants, rays, and the general composition. The box here retains a large stock of homogeneous Sergent-Major nibs, an emblematic model of French writing for several decades.
