A superb rectangular tin box, polychrome lithographed and illustrating the tale of Little Red Riding Hood, with successive scenes spread across the four sides and the lid. The iconography, typical of the late 19th century, blends children's storytelling with popular imagery, in a graphic style reminiscent of illustrated albums and chromolithographs of the Belle Époque. The original metal handle is present, lending the box a highly desirable utilitarian and decorative character. It has a beautiful patina from use, the colors are still clearly legible, and the box is a cohesive piece evocative of early 20th-century French illustrated tin production.
