Advertising tin "Graisse Paulin Noire"

This old lithographed tin advertising box contained the famous Graisse Paulin Noire (Paulin Black Grease) manufactured by P. Paulin, a tanner in Saint-Claude in the Jura region. This particularly decorative version is distinguished by its red side band combined with the yellow lid illustrated with the famous character applying the product to a boot. Intended for the maintenance, waterproofing, and protection of leather, it was recommended for horse-drawn carriage hoods, harnesses, and shoes. It is a beautiful advertising object from the French leather industry of the early 20th century.
