A clear glass pharmaceutical bottle , complete with its original double label and paper closure ring. The bottle is adorned with a superb typographic and illustrated vignette, advertising the Darrasse Frères establishment (13 rue Pavée, Paris) and mentioning a gold medal awarded at the 1900 Universal Exposition. The indicated contents are " Crystallized Digitalis at 1/40 milligram ," a potent extract of foxglove formerly used to treat heart disease. The red and black label warns of the product's toxicity. A rare relic of the toxic pharmacy of the Belle Époque, in remarkable condition.
