A collection comprising five genuine prototypes of ocular prostheses. ( glasseyes ) in enameled blown glass These glasses retain their original tubes, used during the mouth-blown manufacturing process. They were crafted by specialized glassmakers who blew the glass to form the globe and then manually applied the enameled iris and pupil. The long tube was used to manipulate and shape the piece during the torch-working process before it was typically cut off during the finishing stage. These examples are therefore rare, handcrafted pieces, testaments to the expertise of ocularist workshops. Each eye displays different iris nuances and delicate under-glass painting.
