Its metal-framed opening hinges on a rigid brown lacquered frame, fitted with patinated brass clasps and hinges. The interior is lined with the original ecru canvas, simple and functional. The base rivets and hand-stitched handle attest to careful craftsmanship. A beautiful period piece, evocative of the medical world and long journeys.
