A decorative alphabet plate entitled "Egyptian Imitation of an Engraving," from the series " Bibliothèque du Peintre en Bâtiment – Nouveaux Modèles de Lettres" (Building Painter's Library – New Letter Models) published by A. Botzum and printed by E. Thézard fils in Paris around 1890-1900. Each capital letter is depicted in a geometric Egyptian style with cast shadows, imitating the depth of an engraving. The pale green background highlights the rigor of the composition and the workshop aesthetic characteristic of typographic collections intended for sign painters and decorators.
