A typographic plate from the Library of the House Painter , illustrating the "Petit Romain Bâton ombre et relevé d'poids" (Small Roman Shaded Stick and Raised Thickness) style. Created by A. Botzum and published by E. Thézard Fils in Dourdan around 1900, this superbly contrasting lithograph presents a lowercase alphabet, with raised yellow letters on a deep blue background. This simple and structured shaded stick style was used for artisan and commercial signs during the Belle Époque, combining legibility with decorative elegance.
