Cobalt blue bottle POISON - Cantharides powder

Cobalt blue bottle POISON - Cantharides powder

0,00 € Déjà adopté

An antique pharmaceutical bottle made of thick cobalt blue glass, intended for the storage of hazardous substances, clearly identified by the regulatory markings "POISONOUS SUBSTANCE" and "POISON." The central label indicates "Cantharis Powder," a preparation derived from common cantharides (Lytta vesicatoria), historically used in pharmacy as a blistering agent, particularly for strictly controlled external uses. The explicit reference to the 1908 Codex allows for precise dating to the very beginning of the 20th century. The bottle has a slender and stable shape, with a straight neck and thick lip, typical of pharmacy bottles for toxic powders. The deep cobalt blue glass served both as protection against light and as a visual warning of danger. The base bears a molded marking "250," corresponding to a standardized capacity. An authentic piece, preserved with its original paper labels.
