Small molded blue glass nightlight bottle, still fitted with its porcelain stopper and cotton wick. This type of object was used as an oil nightlight or a small bedside lamp with a low flame at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. The molded decoration and the very deep cobalt blue hue give it a particularly decorative presence. The molded inscription "P. MASSY" and "Economical, odorless and smokeless" probably refer to a period patented model. These small domestic nightlights were used in bedrooms, washrooms or as supplementary night lights before the widespread use of electricity.
