An antique gilt bronze ashtray, finely molded in the shape of a devil's head with a grimacing expression, its gaping mouth serving as a receptacle. The facial details are particularly expressive: furrowed brows, a piercing gaze, and two small horns on the skull. The object is attached to a patinated leather strap, designed to be wrapped around the arm of an armchair, a common practice in the bourgeois homes of early 20th-century smokers.
