Large cylindrical lithographed tin box for the Confiserie des Alpes in Grenoble. The design depicts a Pierrot or Harlequin figure carrying a large box of "Bonbons Délicieux" (Delicious Sweets) against a backdrop of Alpine mountains. The other side features an advertisement for "Le véritable caramel au lait" (The True Milk Caramel) made with fresh, pure milk from Villard-de-Lans , accompanied by a scene of cows in a mountain landscape. The whole is framed by a geometric design very characteristic of the 1920s, inspired by Art Deco aesthetics. The box was used for flavored candies (marked "Fraisettes" - Strawberry Shortcakes) and probably also for other flavors such as chicory or caramels. This type of large advertising box often served as a display or container for sale in grocery stores.
