Antique brass or gilt bronze lock/door plates with beaded decoration and the word "LOUÉ" (RENT) painted in black. Each plate bears a unique number and the maker's mark "Drosse Paris." These plates were used in 19th-century hotels to indicate rented rooms, with the numbers corresponding to apartments.
