A superb gilt bronze sculpture depicting an eagle with outstretched wings, ready to take flight. Finely chiseled, the bird perches on a leafy branch, which it grasps with its powerful talons. This motif, a symbol of power and authority, was widely used during the First and Second Empires to adorn furniture, trophies, clocks, and military objects. The antique gilding, slightly faded by time, gives it a warm and authentic patina. It was originally intended to be mounted on a pedestal.
