This superb handwritten album, kept between 1890 and 1897 , belonged to a woman named Marie, originally from Belgium. It is a personal journal of memories , enriched over the years by entries from close female friends and acquaintances. The book contains numerous handwritten texts: poems, thoughts, words of friendship, and affectionate declarations, all carefully calligraphed with a quill pen. Some are accompanied by delicate drawings or watercolors (flowers, birds, landscapes), in the refined style of women's albums from the Belle Époque. Bound in full red morocco leather with gilt endpapers in the Rococo style, the album is a rare and touching testament to the refined and cultured minds of young women at the end of the 19th century .
