A rare circular puzzle depicting the Simplon Tunnel with an Alpine landscape and the towns of Iselle and Brig . The aim is to guide the small moving train along the track to pass through the tunnel opening shown in the center of the scene. This type of miniature skill game is inspired by a major event of the time: the inauguration of the Simplon railway tunnel in 1906, one of the longest tunnels in the world at the time of its opening. Puzzles illustrating modern technical feats (railways, tunnels, bridges) were very popular in German productions intended for the European market at the beginning of the 20th century.
