A charming little recreational puzzle involving assembly and graphic illusion , entitled "The Astronomer," published in Paris by JFJ at the end of the 19th or beginning of the 20th century. These small puzzles were among the many brain games and illustrated curiosities distributed during the Belle Époque.
The principle is to correctly place the three illustrated triangles to form a star , while simultaneously reconstructing the complete portrait of an astronomer looking through his telescope . The game therefore relies on a dual visual effect: the geometric construction of the star and the reconstruction of the image. A solution card shows the correct arrangement of the elements.
