Antique four-page handwritten letter, dated in Agen on January 29, 1808, on paper bearing the letterhead of the Lot-et-Garonne Directorate. The first page combines understated administrative typography with the calligraphed title of the inspector of the Droits réunis, responsible for the main office in the Agen arrondissement. The text is written in brown-ink cursive, with large capital letters, fine flourishes, and a few corrections. Addressed to a correspondent in Lyon, the letter mentions various dealings, personal difficulties, and its author’s position within the administration. A First French Empire document whose appeal lies in its antique letterhead, free-flowing handwriting, and densely written pages.
