A set of ten antique pharmaceutical labels printed on paper, from the Pharmacie du Chemin-de-Fer of Émile Giraud, pharmacist in Lunel (Hérault). This homogeneous set includes various common medicinal preparations from the late 19th and very early 20th centuries, such as medicated syrups, syrup extracts, Menthe excelsior, pulmonary syrup, foxglove syrup, Nervosthenes, and benzoin balm. The graphic compositions, combining typographic frames, pharmaceutical crosses, and Belle Époque ornaments, demonstrate the care taken with the visual identity of provincial pharmacies. The collection constitutes a remarkable example of early pharmacopoeia and pharmaceutical printing.
