A rare handwritten hospital register covering over two decades of medical activity at the Saint-Maixent military hospital, a center associated with the Infantry Military School. Entitled "Barracks Medical Register ," this unique document comprises approximately 150 handwritten pages kept by military doctors, including reports, statistical records, clinical observations, and hygiene notes. Dated several times between 1899 and 1920, it offers a detailed overview of the illnesses encountered among the troops (typhoid, erysipelas, respiratory ailments, various injuries), prophylactic practices, and sanitary conditions of the time. A large fold-out color map of the town of Saint-Maixent and the military school completes the register, indicating the layout of the hospital buildings. Original cardboard binding with a green cloth spine, handwritten labels on the front and back covers.
