Dated 1687 and 1688, this imposing Latin manuscript contains developments on natural philosophy, the world and the heavens, the rational soul and metaphysics. Its approximately 320 written pages feature beautiful brown ink handwriting, large calligraphic titles and flourishes to mark the end of chapters. Scientific drawings accompany the text, particularly in the section devoted to astronomy: a comparison of the Ptolemaic and Copernican systems, the phases of the Moon and the phenomena of shadow and eclipse. An antique leather binding, with raised bands decorated with gold motifs, preserves this testimony to late 17th-century scientific and philosophical teaching.
