A superb antique laundry detergent box with mythological design, featuring the god Neptune and Mercury flanking a medal of the God of Water . Published by CA Henry & Cie , this presentation, known as "Au Neptune ," extols the virtues of Henry Blue from Lyon , used for bluing laundry—a whitening process using a bluish tint. A typical late 19th-century design, printed in chromolithography on a paper label affixed to a wooden box, with mention of the successor H. Pascal in Tournus (Saône-et-Loire) .
