An antique cut brass wine stencil bearing the inscription "ENTRE 2 MERS," the famous Bordeaux appellation located between the Garonne and Dordogne rivers. This type of stencil was used to mark barrels, casks, or crates in wine cellars, indicating the origin of the wine before shipping. The plaque features a beautiful early 20th-century industrial typeface, with the "E" in "MERS" missing, a testament to its heavy use in a workshop. It has a superb golden-brown patina, enhanced by characteristic traces of oxidation and wear.
