A superb advertising tin made of lithographed tinplate with polychrome decoration, adorned with the famous smiling moon of the Éclipse brand. Each side features a different advertisement for products of the Société Générale des Cirages Français (Paris, Lyon, Brussels): Éclipse Cream , Poli-Fourneaux , Fulgor , and Cif . This type of tin was used as a string dispenser in shops, hence the visible opening on the domed lid. The central illustration, with the humanized sun and moon, is among the most iconic images of early 20th-century French advertising.
