A circular brass box stamped with the British royal coat of arms, surrounded by the words "London" and "Dieu et mon droit" (God and my right) , the motto of the British monarchy. This type of container was originally used to store metal pen nibs or small writing accessories, and was made in the first half of the 19th century. The relief of the lion and unicorn is finely executed, suggesting a ceremonial or commercial use rather than a simple utilitarian container. The interior is plain brass, with a base featuring folded edges.
