A rare early 19th-century pigment box containing 24 hand-blown glass pans, carefully wrapped in blue laid paper and labeled in pen ( Indigot , Vermilion , Italian Yellow , etc.). Each pan, unique in shape and irregularities, testifies to artisanal production before the industrial age. Antique brushes are also included, tucked into a side compartment. This box, both humble and deeply evocative, embodies the transmission of authentic pictorial know-how.
