A superb illustrated box of perfected sealing wax, signed J. Herbin – Paris , one of the most renowned manufacturers of ink and wax since the 19th century. The label, with its exquisite typography, depicts a sailing ship against a background of palm trees—the historic emblem of the Herbin company—framed by floral arabesques and exhibition medals. Inside, several fragments of red wax remain, embossed with "J. Herbin – Paris" and "Cire Perfectionnée" (Perfected Sealing Wax).
