A rectangular box made of black boiled cardboard, finely decorated with a gilt border and the words "Poudre Dentifrice" (Tooth Powder) in period lettering. This type of container was intended for oral hygiene powder before the advent of modern toothpaste tubes. The design and the quality of the varnish are reminiscent of late 19th-century products from Parisian laboratories or pharmacies.
