A rare lithographed illustration from the Belle Époque, depicting the imagined conquest of the North Pole by the world's great nations. Young explorers, bearing the French, American, German, and British flags, ascend the globe beneath a polar sky animated by personified moon and sun. This spectacular chromolithograph, with its icy tones and subtle contrasts, is typical of advertising and game productions around 1900. Printed on satin paper, this image originally served as the lid label for a board game entitled *The Conquest of the Pole *, inspired by the late 19th-century fascination with Arctic expeditions.
