Large illustrated botanical plate from Henry Lambert's series "Les Orchidées " (The Orchids), depicting two carefully identified species: Vanda suavis (No. 1) and Miltonia morelliana (No. 2). The composition is distinguished by an elegant arching arrangement of the flower stalks, highlighting the delicate dotted petals and the supple foliage. Produced using chromotypography, a preferred technique for botanical illustration at the end of the 19th century, this plate finely reproduces the pink, sea-green, and bluish-gray hues characteristic of exotic orchids. Numbered Pl. 12, it exemplifies the scholarly and decorative aesthetic typical of major French botanical publications of the Belle Époque.
