The design consists of a white enameled background, a wide diagonal red band bearing the word "LICENCE" in white letters, the number "IV" in blue, and the departmental code "Sarthe". The sign is numbered "N° 789" at the top. This type of sign was displayed at the entrance of cafes and other establishments selling alcoholic beverages, in accordance with the legislation of September 24, 1941.
