Floral plate from the Second Volume of the Album of Decoration , published by A. Calavas in Paris and printed by R. Engelmann . Signed Henry Lambert , it presents two elegant vertical panels representing the poppy and the corn poppy, in a typically Art Nouveau composition where the stems extend into arabesques and the frames recall the ornamental borders of decorative friezes.
These motifs originally served as models for mural painting, stained glass or tapestries, embodying the fusion of nature and decor characteristic of the Belle Époque.
