Old Bordin mustard pot in white glazed earthenware, decorated in black with the inscription "Moutarde de BORDIN, Vinaigrier du Roi et des cours d’Angleterre, d’Autriche et de Russie, Rue St Martin n°71 à Paris". This example corresponds to an early version of the Bordin house, produced at the beginning of the 19th century at its historic Parisian address. Its finely printed typographical decoration, framed by a characteristic black frieze, as well as its slender silhouette with a constricted neck, make it an emblematic piece of the first commercial Parisian mustard pots.

✦ Provenance: Maison Bordin, 71 rue Saint-Martin, Paris, France
✦ Estimated period: Circa 1820-1835 - early 19th century first version
✦ Dimensions: approx. 13 x 7.5 cm
✦ Material: Fine white glazed earthenware
✦ Condition: Good antique condition with visible signs of use, small chips and occasional wear to the neck and base, well-contrasted and very legible decoration, good overall preservation

Rare Parisian mustard pot from the early period, particularly decorative with its large black typographic label. A sought-after piece in collections of old groceries, advertising earthenware or early 19th century mustard pots.
