Antique Grey-Poupon mustard pot in white faience, with a beautiful, finely detailed black design. The coat of arms of Dijon, topped by a mural crown, is set in a cartouche surrounded by bunches of grapes, vine leaves, and tendrils. A banner ending in tassels bears the inscriptions “House founded in 1777” and “Dijon, London, Paris, Amsterdam,” among others, above the inscriptions DIJON and GREY-POUPON. Around the neck, a ribbon proclaims “Only gold medal - Paris 1889.” On the back, the words “Demand the capsule” appear above a large illustration of a capsule with a scalloped edge and guilloché background, bearing the words “Mustard - Dijon - Grey-Poupon”: an advertising detail designed to identify the product’s original closure. The base retains the crowned coat-of-arms stamp “Opaque de Sarreguemines.”
