An antique English advertising jar in white glazed earthenware, with a circular black printed decoration bearing the inscription "Made Preserves – Manufactured by the Army and Navy Co-operative Society – 105 Victoria St – London SW". The central medallion depicts two allegorical figures flanking a coat of arms, the characteristic emblem of this British cooperative founded in the 19th century to supply officers and families of the army and navy. This type of jar was used for storing and serving preserves and jams in English grocery stores and homes during the late Victorian era.

✦ Origin: England, London
✦ Estimated period: Circa 1900
✦ Dimensions: Approximately 9 × 9.5 cm
✦ Material: Glazed earthenware
✦ Condition: Good used condition, small traces and old marks, slight occasional stains, no major cracks or chips.

A beautiful example of the world of British cooperatives at the end of the 19th century, ideal for decorating an old-fashioned grocery store, a "so British" kitchen, or a collection of English advertising items.
