A rare, large antique lithographed tin box for varnished staples, produced by the GJ&F brand in Paris. The lid features a superb Art Nouveau composition with an elegant female figure surrounded by stylized staples, within a graphic design of curved lines and plant motifs typical of the 1900 aesthetic. The sides bear the inscription "Agrafes vernies" (varnished staples) in a decorative cartouche, accompanied by cherubs and ornaments inspired by the decorative arts of the Belle Époque. The indication "100 cards of 20 pairs" recalls the industrial packaging intended for haberdasheries and sewing workshops. This highly decorative iconography, combined with a particularly luminous turquoise and cream palette, makes it an emblematic advertising box for sewing supplies at the turn of the century.
