A rare lithographed tin box for Gosiérine Dalloz dragées, an antiseptic remedy for mouth and throat ailments. The lid features a beautiful Art Nouveau feminine design, with a woman's profile, her hair adorned with jewels, set within a medallion of sinuous lines and elegant typography. This iconography perfectly reflects Parisian graphic aesthetics around 1900 and recalls the compositions popularized by Alphonse Mucha , whose style was widely imitated in Belle Époque advertising. The inside of the lid retains its original printed disc indicating the composition and dosage – menthol, cocaine, sodium borate – characteristic elements of the pharmacopoeia of the time. The box also exhibits a violet hue, significantly less common than the yellowish versions usually found.
