An antique lithographed tin box for "AlsOlat" cocoa, produced by E. Moench in Nancy. The illustration depicts a domestic scene typical of Belle Époque food advertising: a maid in Alsatian costume serves cocoa to a lady and child seated at a table, in a warm interior setting. The sides of the box retain the advertising texts detailing the brand's specialties (Alsacine, Alsao, Alsa dried eggs) as well as instructions for preparing AlsOlat cocoa. This iconography and typography are consistent with French advertising productions of the late 19th or very early 20th century. The base also shows the little Alsatian girl carrying a kugelhopf, the brand's graphic emblem.
