An antique game board entitled “The Game of the Hare and the Tortoise,” inspired by the famous fable by Jean de La Fontaine. The upper part of the board depicts an anthropomorphic animal scene where various animals witness the finish of the race, while the main part of the board features the numbered track for the players' progress. The entire board is illustrated in a colorful and narrative style typical of late 19th-century board games. This double-sided board features a large illustrated scene with a numbered central track on one side. The original printed instructions, published by A. Lion Fils, Publisher, Paris , accompany the board.
