A curious little parlor game called The Oracle of Destiny, published by JFJ in Paris. Presented in a cardboard box illustrated with an owl perched on a branch, a traditional symbol of wisdom and divination, this game belongs to the tradition of entertainments blending chance and prediction that were very popular during the Belle Époque. Inside is an illustrated disc protected under glass, in which a small ball moves, allowing the player to obtain an answer from among several formulas inscribed around the dial. Halfway between a game of skill and a playful divination game, this object amused salons and family gatherings while cultivating a mysterious imagination surrounding destiny.
