An English advertising jar in white glazed earthenware, with a black printed design for Batty & Co., bearing the inscription "Batty's Prepared at Their Depot," "Wholesale & Pickle Warehouse," and the address "15 & 16 Pavement, Finsbury, London." The central design features the British coat of arms with facing lions and a motto, typical of late 19th-century commercial production. This type of jar was intended for packaging and selling mustard in London grocery stores.

✦ Origin: England, London
✦ Estimated period: Circa 1880-1900
✦ Dimensions: Approximately 9 × 9.5 cm
✦ Material: Glazed earthenware
✦ Condition: Old used condition, old circular crack visible on the lower rim without affecting the pot's solidity, small marks and wear related to age, decoration clearly legible.

A fine example of a Victorian English grocery store, with rich and highly decorative graphics, ideal for a collection of British advertising jars or a "so British" display.
